CMARN Key Messages for COP31
Strengthening action on human mobility in the context of climate change in Africa
Ahead of COP31 in Antalya, the Climate Mobility Africa Research Network (CMARN) sets out five priority recommendations for Parties, in particular African Parties and the African Group of Negotiators, drawing on evidence from across Africa.
Our five recommendations
01
Integrate human mobility into National Adaptation Plans and other relevant frameworks
02
Address risks experienced during migration, displacement, return and planned relocation, including among populations unable to move, in adaptation planning and implementation, especially for women, unaccompanied children and persons in vulnerable situations
03
Recognise and support pastoralist mobility as a long-standing adaptation strategy in Africa
04
Strengthen monitoring, reporting and learning on human mobility in the context of climate change
05
Improve coherence in financing and investment responses to climate-related human mobility
